Management Team
Torrey Larsen, who co-founded Security One Lending, is its Chief Executive Officer. Larsen is active in all aspects of the firm with his central focus on overall business growth and strategic direction.
Mr. Larsen has a broad background in the areas of corporate finance, capital markets, and secondary marketing. Subsequent to earning his BA at Westmont College, he joined the investment-banking firm of Van Kampen Meritt where he held management positions in both the Broker/Bank Relations Group and the Mutual Fund Trading Desk. It was through this experience that he formally broke into the mortgage-lending field when he accepted a position within a regional mortgage-banking firm where he managed the secondary marketing department, hedged the firms mortgage portfolio against interest rate risk, and started a correspondent lending division for the firm. As a direct result of his leadership, Security One Lending has achieved tremendous growth and is on track to achieve and exceed its sales and financial projections.
Mr. Larsen is chairman of the board of directors.
Tyler Larsen, co-founder of Security One Lending and its Chief Financial Officer, has played a major role in start-up of the firm. Mr. Larsen is directly responsible for all financial, accounting, and reporting aspects of the company.
With an extensive corporate background providing accounting and financial leadership to corporations both inside and outside of the mortgage industry, Mr. Larsen delivers critical and timely financial direction to the firm and brings to the table specific insight into the development and implementation of corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls. This valuable experience has enabled him to develop and maintain the strict accounting and reporting standards necessary to comply with complex government and investor reporting demands. It is a direct result of his leadership that Security One Lending has grown efficiently while reducing overall risk and enhancing stockholder value. Larsen holds a series 7 securities license and a BS from Biola University.

Merritt Barber is a founding partner and the Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing of Security One Lending and has played a key roll in crafting the strategic vision, business planning and tactical operating plan for the firm. Mr. Barber participates in all aspects of strategic planning, sales and marketing for the company.
Mr. Barber has a diverse professional background with experience not only in mortgage banking, but also in the high technology field where he worked as a strategic business planner and economic analyst for a Fortune 50 high technology company and as a project manager for a consulting firm. After joining the mortgage industry in the mid 1980's, Mr. Barber worked as an executive in sales and marketing for both retail and wholesale mortgage lending firms.
Rhiannon Behnke is Senior Vice President of Security One Lending. She has a reputation for developing significant and unprecedented corporate growth in her prior positions. With this in mind, we have made a major part of her responsibility the handling new business development. In addition she oversees the development and growth of our sales and operations management. She has experience in the area of recruitment, customer service and a strong technology background in both electronic data systems and internet efficiency.
Ms. Behnke comes to us with a solid and diverse background of approximately ten years in the Reverse Mortgage industry. Prior to joining Security One Lending Ms. Behnke served as the Wholesale Production Manager at Financial Freedom in Irvine, California. Also she has worked with BNY Mortgage and Wells Fargo in roles that range from Production Manager, Regional Manager, processing and also origination.
This experience, along with the natural talent and enthusiasm that Ms. Behnke brings to Security One Lending makes our team complete.
James Veale is the Senior Vice President in charge of special projects and government affairs at Security One Lending. Mr. Veale directs our efforts in opening new properties and projects.
As a CPA with a Masters degree in taxation from USC, Mr. Veale brings many years of experience in planning retirement strategies for large multiemployer pension and employee benefit plans. For over 14 years, Mr. Veale was the partner in charge of taxes at the ninth largest CPA firm in LA County. As a real estate broker, he is able to identify projects with promise, potential and opportunity. As a Certified Senior Advisor, he is very concerned about the financial welfare of our senior population.
Mr. Veale is a national speaker and writer for our trade association, the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association, and serves on its education committee. He is a member of the advisory board and directs the Security One Lending branch office in Long Beach, CA. Mr. Veale also writes a monthly article on reverse mortgage issues for Life after 50.
